Hannah Kiefer
Marketing & PR Strategist (HSK Communications)
Project pilot; led Christkindlmarkt PR, national press, and crisis communications.
Hannah has a history in the museum world, where she first started her marketing journey. After a time as a reporter, she transitioned into managing social media at Conner Prairie, then becoming the Director of Communications at the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites. During the pandemic, she left that position to launch her own communications business, HSK Consulting.
During her previous roles and current client roster, she has worked extensively with tourism in Hamilton County, Indianapolis and beyond. The majority of her current client list are nonprofits, with a heavy emphasis in the event and attraction sphere.
She has also managed marketing for the Carmel Christkindlmarkt in Hamilton County for four years and continues to contribute as a contractor. During her time at the Market, they saw attendance increase each year, as well as million-dollar gains in revenue year over year and several “million dollar weekends,” where the organization generated more than a million dollars in a three day span. The Market also received national media attention under her direction, including with Forbes, the Wall Street Journal, and National Geographic Travel.
As Vice President of Communications for the Carmel Christkindlmarkt 2024 to spring of 2025, she led the organization through a public relations crisis of a very public scale while also hitting all of their marketing goals for the season. That work was done with this team, outlined below, and they were awarded Best Digital Marketing Campaign by the Indiana Tourism Association in 2025 for their work during the 2024 season.
When it comes to the IHS, Hannah would be the project pilot, ensuring execution on all elements of the marketing and PR plan and managing campaign strategy. She would also be the lead on public relations efforts, given her immense history of working with the media in Indianapolis and beyond.
Hannah has an undergraduate degree in Journalism and Near Eastern Languages and Cultures from Indiana University Bloomington, and a master’s degree in PR from Ball State University.
